Description
Did a quick painting of one of the bigger herbivorous predators. The rest of the flock have managed to escape, but an unfortunate individual has been snagged.
Blas have powerful hydraulic pumps in their legs to propel them along, so puncturing these renders the creature immobile. Dryptotherium are notorious for playing with their food before (and whilst) eating it. One was seen kicking a half-bitten bounder as it tried to crawl away before pinning it down and biting it again.
Like all cloverheads, their mouth is located at the rear of the body, and can open to a surprising size. Many species use their rear legs’ webbing to herd blas to their mouth.
It was nice to paint something with hard lighting.
Neat design - though how on in all the worlds did the mouth-on-rear thing get started? I mean, its perfectly acceptable so long as you've got a half-decent basal organism planned out, just curious about what circumstances made it beneficial for the ancestor to have the sensory organs so far away from the mouth.
